Therefore it goes without saying that all necessary conventional precautions have been taken before embarking on acupuncture treatment, either therapeutically or by investigation. Although based on traditional teaching, my guidelines can only be brief in a book of this type. Due credit cannot really be given to the complex thinking behind the various prescriptions, but a lot of it is fairly dogmatic and empirical in any case.
